Taylor is sitting across the table from me with both of our blogs up, complaining about how plain his page looks compared to mine, and Lance has just looked over to see for himself and reassured Taylor: “It’s very… clean…”

He followed this up with the statement, “As for me and my household, we read the New York Times.”

I’m so worried about my homework. Working here is very distracting. I don’t know when Taylor does his homework, but when I do mine, he comes and distracts me from it!

Annie and I are watching the Super Tuesday business on TV and having intellectual discussions, which is super exciting. Taylor was also here discussing, but he’s not now.

Also we are eating far too many cookies.

Also I am looking at pictures of my cousin’s gorgeous baby:

I want him.

Sadly, the night is not going as well as it should be, for I have a Spanish test in the morning and the air-conditioning in our dorm is broken. (For those of you who aren’t in the benighted South, yes it’s February, but it’s also 75 degrees and thick as pea soup.)

You know, there are only so many layers of clothing one can take off.

This is a copy-paste from a Facebook note [sorry!] – I’m just amazed at the networking going on online for the upcoming Presidential election and wanted to share:

Seeing as this is the most crazily internetty election of ever, I’m taking advantage of this new level of accessibility to educate myself more thoroughly than I’ve been able to in any other election. This is the best educational tool I’ve found:

http://www.dehp.net/candidate/index.php

Mark your views on the issues and the weight you accord to each; the site will match you with the candidates in order by the extent to which they share your views. This was truly an eye-opening experience for me – the site includes several lesser-known candidates whose views came as a pleasant surprise. :)

So check it out if you’re as confused by these smooth talkers as I am – not that I would ask you to base your vote on an internet quiz, but this is a great starting point to research candidates who share your views. You may be as surprised as I was at the result.

In other news, Lance’s family and mine got together tonight at the Cracker Barrel to have Christmas. It was so good to see him – with us being together so much at school, sometimes I really feel like we’re already grown and married, and it’s always a rude awakening to go home for a break and remember that he actually lives 100 miles away. I love being with my family, and I see them far less often than I do him, so I treasure the ability to come home, but I do still wish I could have everyone I love all in one place!

I love trading gifts, and I’m so excited about some of the ones I have for this Christmas. I’ve been going the artsy-fartsy road lately and making personalized notecards for people. I gave Lance’s mom a set of 10 kind of “wild card” themed cards tonight, and I’m almost done with an equestrian-themed set of 8 for Aynsley. It’s fun when people don’t believe I made them myself. :)

Here be gingerbread, arr.

Today Brooke and I made a kick-ass gingerbread house and pissed off the far right. What more could one ask for in a December Friday?

I also got to hang out with Aynsley, my best friend back home, which was great because it’s been a while – like the semester or maybe even the year – since we really had time to reconnect. (“That’s a kicker!”)  Nothing like awful suburban pre-Christmas traffic for conversation.

I still can’t quite figure it out that it’s, like, 3 days until Christmas. What the poo. But I’m reading a really creepy Agatha Christie book, so I guess it all evens out.

Emily and I did go to the WC party last night, and we did get to play Apples to Apples, which was excellent and solidified my wanting of this game. How-vever, most people who weren’t us were poking smot, and my throat has hurt a lot today as a result.

Our good old dropout buddy Kipper was in town, so there was a nostalgic trek to Waffle House post-party to honor his rare presence. It seems like all my memories of freshman year involve Emily, Lance, and Kipper – even if there were other people around, the four of us were always together. I have Emily to thank for bringing that group together, and as a result for the relationship that developed between me and Lance. (We told that story to anyone at the party who would listen, as at least one person would inquire as to Lance’s whereabouts per fifteen-minute time span, and as they were pretty much all drunk or stoned enough to find it fascinating.)

So I was out until 4, which I definitely haven’t done since freshman year, and it took me until about 7 tonight to get back on track with the timing of my life. I’m pretty behind on the homework I’d intended to have done going into exam week, but it was really a much-needed break. I hadn’t talked to Kipper since last semester, and since Emily and I aren’t living together anymore, we only see each other in class most of the time. I was surprised by how much I had missed hanging out and acting stupid with her – I’m realizing what a rare thing it is to have a friend who reserves all judgment, and she’s one I count among those.
